Privacy Policy

Phantom Trace ("the app") is a GPS app for off-road racing teams, available for Android, iPhone and iPad, made by Phantom Racing Development. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Our Terms of Use also apply.

1. Information we collect

Account info: your name and email address from Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple (Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one), and your Google profile picture if you use Google. Used to run your account and show your name to your teammates.
Location (GPS position, speed, heading): used only while the app is open to show your position, record tracks you choose to record, and share your live position with your own team. We don't collect location in the background.
Content you create: waypoints, notes, tracks, team names, and waypoints or tracks you send to teammates.
Photos: only photos you attach to a waypoint, or a screenshot you add to a problem report.
Voice messages: recordings you send to your team. Microphone access is only used while you record.
Purchases: whether you have an active subscription or free trial, and when it renews or ends. Payments are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store; we never receive your card details.
Safety data: people you block and reports you send about other users or voice messages.
Support data: the text of problem reports, your app version, platform and team role.

2. How we use your data

To provide the app: maps, track recording, waypoints, teams, live positions and voice messages.
To share your live position, voice messages and content only with the team you joined, or the teammates you choose.
To manage subscriptions, trials and promo access.
To keep the community safe: review reports within 24 hours and remove content or users that break our Terms.
To answer support requests and fix problems.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers and encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Only you and the teammates you share with can see your tracks, waypoints and voice messages.

4. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete individual waypoints, tracks and your own voice messages at any time.
Delete your account in the app: Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and data. See Delete Account for other ways to request it.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription; cancel it in your store account.

5. Your rights

You can export your tracks and waypoints as GPX, KML or USR files at any time.
You can stop sharing your location by turning off GPS tracking in Settings or leaving your team.
Residents of California (CCPA), the EU/UK (GDPR) and other places may have extra rights, such as getting a copy of their data. Email us to make a request.

6. Third-party services

Google Maps (Android) and Apple Maps (iPhone/iPad) for maps and satellite imagery.
Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple for signing in.
Google Play Billing, the Apple App Store and RevenueCat for subscriptions (RevenueCat receives your account ID and purchase status, not your name or card details).
Google Cloud to host our servers and database, and Cloudflare to host this website.
PostHog for product analytics, only if enabled in a future version; you can turn analytics off in Settings > Privacy.
Discord (private channel) to deliver problem reports and user reports to our team.

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children's privacy

The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and let you know in the app for important changes.
